the
world's such an empty, soulless place
where
shallow lovers swoon at pretty lies
they
look at you and judge only your face
they
see no heaven in the cloudy skies
they
miss so much in search of perfect form
nor
will they see the story in the scars
they
miss the warmth that gets you through the storm
and
how that veiled beauty shines like stars
while
others look so pretty in the light
the
struggles leave their shining image cold
but
you were there to hold me in the night
and
that sweet constellation shines like gold
a pretty face is worthless in the dark
but pure souls give love igniting spark
The complete poetic works of Kevin Ranville. The theme is lights in the dark. Interpret it how you will. Like me, this collection is a work in progress. All poems are copyrighted to Kevin Ranville. Please state as much if you pass the work along to a friend. Thanks.
