This trail's such a cold and lonely place
Without a hand to lift you when you fall
I think we just might lose this dreary race
We'll come in last, if we finish at all
Yet somehow we've still got to make it through
Time doesn't wait for you to rest your soul
That's why I'm glad I've got someone like you
To hold my hand as we race t'ward the goal
But pity those poor souls who run alone
Collapsing by themselves along the way
Companionship they've never truly known
Will carry us right through the darkest day
Because I've got my one beautiful friend
I'll have the strength to make it to the end
