This world's a cold and cruel place to live
with mean and heartless people everywhere
so many awful wounds we can't forgive
and when we're hurt, nobody seems to care
But heaven is a place so full of love
and peace our mortal minds will never know
Down here we just imagine God above
but nothing's even close to that sweet glow
He knew that we would never make it through
without some hint of his own shining light
so, loving us, he gave the gift of you
and taught us how to love with all our might.
My friend, you showed us God's light shining through
Because you loved us, we are glowing too.
