SONNET XLV - FOR LOUIS

When villains reign, a good man must rebel
For God is on the side of the oppressed
And though you're here, a prisoner in a cell
you did what's right and passed the hero's test
The people called and you stood up to fight
A tyrant raged, and you picked up your gun
to make a stand for what you knew was right
Through sacrifice our victory was won
And though you may feel lonely and betrayed
the angels wait to catch a hero's tears
Be brave, O man of God! Be not afraid!
When heroes make a stand, all heaven cheers
Rest easy with our Father, O Louis
Because of you, I'm proud to be Métis
