She watched his car drive away,
staring at the long red streak of tail lights
reflecting off the rain-washed street.
She turned left
and looked up at her father's house.
There was an ache inside her,
part emotion and part flesh.
She couldn't find her keys.
She lost them in the man's back seat.
She stood crying at the place
where the sidewalk met the road.
